Animal ID: 18-01-15-00358Lilly (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

My father passed away and left Lilly with me. Unfortunately, she doesn't fit very well into my life. I will soon be living with my sister and niece along with 2 children of 27 and 9 months old. I am concerned that Lilly's warning growls will turn into a tragic attack on one of the kids. Plus she has had some altercations with their dogs. Dad and Lilly were inseparable and devoted to each other. When she lived with dad, she loved to hunt and catch small scurrying creatures both outside and inside. Then, she would be content to sit in his lap for hours. I hope that we can find that kind of home for her again.

Animal ID: 1980Myah (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Myah is as sweet as can be! She came into rescue as a skittish, shy girl but has developed a beautiful personality. Myah likes to play with the other dogs in her foster home, and she will graciously share her foster mom's lap. She also loves her walks on leash but could use more practice to make her outings more productive. (She gets sidetracked when seeing a squirrel cross her path.) A fenced yard would be a plus for her because it would allow her to run and explore at her own pace. Just about 2 1/2 years old and 12 lbs., Myah is house-trained and has done well with crate training. Her foster mom puts her in a crate when leaving the house, ... (Read More)but Myah is trustworthy enough to be left to roam the house uncrated. She also is quiet and only barks when the other dogs bark. Most importantly, she loves and craves human companionship, so she should be with someone who is home during the day. But who would want to leave such a sweetheart alone anyway? Wouldn't you like to make Myah yours-ah? ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MYAH, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Animal ID: 1957Bud (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bud, or Boudreaux as he's been nicknamed since traveling from Louisiana to his foster home in Tennessee, is a 3-year-old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix weighing 13 lbs. Bud is generally sweet and affectionate, and he enjoys being a snuggly lap dog. He is very polite on a leash and loves going on walks. He's also a good listener and house-trained. A couple of times a day, he gets the 'zoomies' and races around the house--very cute and quite entertaining! However, Bud occasionally exhibits the temperament of a 'ragin' Cajun' when he gets overly tired or feels frightened or defensive, and he can be quite skittish. Some of his skittishness may stem ... (Read More)from the fact that he experiences some joint pain, for which he has recently been prescribed a daily anti-inflammatory. The medicine, which averages around 35 dollars per month, greatly improves his attitude and quality of life, but it hasn't totally eliminated his behavioral quirks. For example, if he is snuggled completely under a blanket and cannot see you, he will respond in fear when touched through the blanket. If surprised or frightened, he has snapped at or bitten people. For this reason, he should not go to a home with young children, who would not have the sophistication to recognize Bud's body language or warnings that he's feeling uncomfortable. And while most of the time, he gets along very well with the other dogs in his foster home, he has problems with resource guarding and has bitten dogs if they encroach in his space when he has a possession that he holds near and dear, like a chewy or a toy. He has improved in this area (his foster parents help him by using consistent positive training), and he is a little less aggressively protecting chewies but still very possessive over toys. Nevertheless, Bud longs for love and acceptance as much as any other dog, and if you're an experienced pet parent who is patient and knows how to use positive training methods, you can help Bud grow in confidence and become the dog he wishes to be--your good boy! Bud is looking for a home close enough to his foster home that he can invite you over and show you firsthand the kinds of situations that can trigger his occasional behavioral issues. To see more pics of this challenging but lovable little dog, check out Bud's online photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bud. ------------------------------------------------------ IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING BUD, please go to new Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.
