Hi, I'm Lex, and it's great to meet you. I've been hanging out here at the ACSPCA with all my dog friends, and although I'm having a blast (I love other dogs), I'm really hoping to find a family I can settle in with. I'm a super sweet guy, after all, who's just looking for a little love. And did I tell you that I'm six years old? They say with age comes wisdom, and that's certainly true with me, which means you won't have to spend time doing all that puppy stuff. Bonus, right? Here's what else you should know about me: I do really well around kids, which I think makes me the perfect pick for your family. Agree? Let's shake on that when we ... (Read More)meet in person. Weight: 15.6 Lbs Where I Came From: Transfer from Kokomo - stray Children: Would Probably Do Well With Children Pending an Interaction A Special Note from the Allen County SPCA: Remember dogs are a lifelong commitment. We also ask that you are able to keep up on yearly vaccinations, monthly preventatives, a good diet, daily exercise, training, and most of all, LOVE. If you ever are having an issue with a dog that you have adopted, please contact us right away; we may be able to help, or we can put you in touch with someone who can. (Less)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

I must find a home for my 8ish year old rat terrier/chihuahua mix. I have a 6 month old daughter and she's way too jumpy around the baby. She is very high energy and requires a lot of love and affection. She has some stranger danger issues, so when you have visitors over, introductions need to be slow. She would be great in a house with adults who have a lot of time to love, love and dote upon her. She truly enjoys being the only dog in the house and wants nothing more than to get lots of cuddles and pets on the sofa. I just have absolutely no time for her anymore with the 6 month old and working full time and a husband who travels every ... (Read More)week. She is super loving to those she trusts, very well housetrained, no known health issues or dietary special needs, she doesn't chew or ruin anything, and only barks when someone comes knocking at the door or ringing the bell. She is incredibly cute and would be a great addition to any home looking for a solo dog to snuggle. Please help my girl find the love she used to get all the time from me before life changed. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-10-11-00502Kismet (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kismet: 2 year old rat terrier/chihuahua 7-8 lbs potty trained good with kids/dogs/people 'Petite & dainty Kismet has the best characteristics of both her parents which make her unique and so enjoyable to have around. She loves to snuggle and cuddle and get pampered like a chihuahua; but she also is feisty, daring and intelligent as is a rat terrier. She's a 'bug hunter extraordinaire' and will ruthlessly trail and catch those pesky flies which sneak in open doors. You'll never need a fly swatter with her on patrol! Kismet, or 'Kizzie' as we fondly call her, gets along well with other dogs but would also be fine as an 'only ... (Read More)child'; she's able to keep herself entertained and attention from her people keeps her satisfied. She is potty trained and not particularly interested in toys, nor does she feel the need to chew things up and get into mischief. She isn't too energetic but does enjoy brisk walks and car rides. Although a she's very affectionate and cuddly (not to mention cute), Kismet is strong-willed so will need a home in which she is given rules and boundaries or she will start acting like she's the boss. Kizzie's adoption fee is $200; she's spayed, microchipped and current on vaccinations.' (Less)
