Rescue Me ID: 17-04-01-00175Mimi (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

Mimi was picked up as a stray in Indianapolis and never claimed. The shelter life terrified her causing her to scream in panic when trying to be leashed and would snap and growl when people went to grab her. After being a week in foster, things have really changed. She has come out of her shell so much and shows that little dog syndrome and reallt runs things around here. She is currently housed with 5 big dogs and isnt afraid to put them in their place and show them whose boss. She loves to be cuddled and held, as long as she is picked up from behind. Picking her up in the front results in a scream. She rides well in the car and loves to ... (Read More)follow her people around. She seems to favor kids and loves to play with them. There is an 8 year old in the foster home who she adores and loves to climb the stairs to his bed every night. She is kennel trained and house trained and will go to the door when she needs to be let out. She is a sweetheart of a gal who would love a lap to cuddle on. Understand that this did not happen overnight and it took at least a full week and a few days to get her to come around to people. So her new family must be understanding and patient with her. Maybe in a home where she will receive attention often and can soak up all the live in the world she wouldnt ne quite so excited when she receives it to cause her to tinkle. She is also a little dog which means she has a small bladder and could use potty breaks more often. She is a very sweet girl. Mac still needs her standard medical done before she will be available for adoption. Hoping to get that done in the first few weeks of April. Mac,s adoption mfee is $150.00. If you ... Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00202Piper (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Piper. This adorable girl is an 11-year-old rat terrier/Jack Russell terrier mix. Piper is a sweetheart, but has not done well adjusting to children in the family. For this reason she is looking for a calm retirement home where she can sunbathe in the day and cuddle at night. We understand that there are challenges when looking for adopters for a senior dog, but we are confident that someone will love to have little Piper to hang out with to watch TV or to take on walks. Piper is still a spunky, spry girl who also still loves squeaky toys. She knows a few commands and is very well behaved in the home. When left alone Piper likes to ... (Read More)watch DogTV to pass the time. Adding to Piper's challenges is her desire to be an only pet. She has lived several years with Noella (also up for adoption) but has never really spent much time with other dogs. When she does encounter other dogs she mostly ignores them. She is quite the cat and other small critter chaser, so we think a home without cats would be best. And as we mentioned above, Piper would prefer no small children. She is a little cat-like in terms of being pet. When she wants attention she'll let you know. She does sometimes go to the kids for affection, but she gets annoyed when they pet too long or too hard. Piper is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is also solidly housebroken and does not need to be crated. If you would like to meet Piper please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. Her adoption fee is $125. (Less)
