Rescue Me ID: 14-11-04-00223Magpie (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Meet Magpie! She is a super cuddle bug that likes to snuggle under blankets, pillows, sweaters, etc! She is a little nervous at first but once she gets to know you, she loves to cuddle. She seems to do a little better with humans that have a more calm and soft energy as she has some fearfulness (she belonged to a hoarder). She smothers my 1 year old with kisses every day, but then if he startles her she will nip so older kids would be best. We have another little one on the way and the energy level in the house just isn't calm enough for her so she's nervous and on edge quite a bit which isn't fair to her. She'd be great as an only dog, with ... (Read More)an older couple or person as a companion or with a family with older kids that will respect her space and needs. She does just fine with our kitties and other dog so either way, she'd be great! (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Rufus's Story... Rufus was a stray that could not be caught! Animal control tried for several days to catch him as he ran loose in rural Illinois. They finally set up a trap and caught him! Rufus appears to be a purebred rat terrier and is very healthy. He is about 3 years old and is sweet, affectionate, a little nervous when meeting new dogs and people, but warms up quickly. Rufus is potty trained, and is being fostered with dogs, cats and kids and is great with them all. He seems to particularly like cats. Rufus is great on a leash, is quiet, and does not shed much. He is a very smart boy and would love to live with a family of his own! He ... (Read More)is being fostered in Normal, IL. Rufus' minimum adoption fee is $275. He is neutered, microchipped, all shots up to date, fecal tested, dewormed and Advantage Multi applied. If you would like to meet Rufus or are interested in adding him to your family, contact arrowdogrescue@gmail.com . Rufus, Rat Terrier has been shared from Shelter Exchange. (Less)

Animal ID: 28582Annabell (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Annabelle's Story... Annabelle arrived from a high kill animal shelter in Texas with severe flea bite dermatitis, and a corneal ulcer and severe eye infection. She also arrived with her two 10 week old puppies still nursing. Annabelle was given lots of medicated baths and special allergy medications to help her heal her skin and regrow her fur. She also had her eye treated several times per day. The infection has cleared and she is feeling a whole lot better! She really loves to play, and is quite a character! Annabelle is like no other dog. A little awkward, a little shy, a little timid, but once warmed up she runs to you with tail wagging ... (Read More)and begging for attention. She is a very quiet girl, great in a crate, and is housebroken except she doesn't alert that she needs to go outside. Annabelle would do best in a home where she could have a doggy playmate a little smaller than she is. She loves both male and female dogs equally. She is very quiet and would make a great apartment dog. Annabelle reacts to hand motions as if she may have been abused, cowering and running to hide. She would do best in a family who would be especially gentle with her and would give her lots of love and affection! Her minimum adoption donation is $275 and she has been fully vetted including spay, microchip, all shots, fecal tested, heart worm tested, dewormer and advantage multi applied monthly. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Dottie's Story... Dottie is a funny girl! She was rescued from a Southern Illinois pound where she was never reclaimed. She is unique in many ways! First of all, she loves to be snuggled and kissed and the whole time you are doing it she likes to growl and talk to you! She has a lot to say! 2nd reason is her combination of her breeds! Papillon and Rat Terrier, what a great pup! She LOVES to fetch. She loves to fly off the couch and got get the thing you threw and fly back in the fastest amount possible. She is polite on a leash but is nervous in general. She would love a home with another small dog who likes to play but doesn't jump all over ... (Read More)her. Dottie is great in a crate, house trained, not destructive, good with cats and kids. Dottie would love to find a home where where growls and talking don't scare her family. He will chase rabbits, squirrels, and cats, but doesn't run off as he comes right back. He is a Terrier after all! A fenced yard would be best (he will chase any animal visitors) but will also do well on leash walks and dog park outings! Kasper is fantastic with other friendly dogs and may be inquisitive about the indoor cats. He is house trained, weighs 21.8#'s, and is 3 years of age. Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hobbes is an extremely sweet, high-energy, cuddly and loving, 29-pound, 18-month-old, male Rat Terrier/Border Collie-Mix looking for a loving guardian. When you first meet adorable little Hobbes, you hear a growl and you take a step back. He does the same thing to dogs when he first meets them. The funny thing is, he really loves everyone. He is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone. Sadly, he was found stray in the Englewood neighborhood where children were beating him with sticks. Police officers intervened and brought the dog to Chicago Animal Care and Control. When his original family neglected to claim him, he was transferred to ... (Read More)Rain Dog Rescue. Despite this horrible start in life, Hobbes is a social creature and loves playing with other dogs and getting human affection. Hobbes is looking for a loving and active dog-loving home with a canine sibling to play with. Hobbes does well at the dog park - enjoying not only all the dogs, but people too! Hobbes loves going on long walks and is currently working with a trainer to become less reactive on leash. He is housebroken, crate-trained and knows the commands sit, stay and down and takes treats gently from your fingers. Hobbes is very healthy, de-wormed, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly heartworm preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits Raindog Rescue.     Mickey is a high-energy, 12-pound, 18-month-old, Chihuahua/Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Mickey landed at Chicago Animal Care & Control due to no fault of his own. He was rescued by Famous Fido, and spends his days with all the other dogs at the shelter. Typical of any young dog, Mickey is looking for someone with the time and energy to train and exercise a young dog. He loves walks, but needs multiple walks a day to perfect his housebreaking. Mickey is fast! And wiggly '| for this reason, he's recommended for adults and teens who can make sure to give him the training he needs so he doesn't dart out the door and get lost. He ...
