Rescue Me ID: 17-10-22-00187Ollie (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Keller and Ollie need your help! Adopters or Fosters PLEASE. Their World has been rocked. Their Owner was a Veteran who served our Country as a Helicopter Pilot saving our Soldiers. Sadly PTSD took over and this Oklahoma Veteran tried to take his life. His WISH was to not euthanize his Dogs, but to find a loving home for them. They are both sweet, adorable Pups. Keller is a 7 to 8 year old Shepard mix and Ollie is a 4 to 5 year old Rat Terrier mix. They are both staying at a Boarding Facility and are having a rough, stressful time. PLEASE, in Honor of his Service, let's get these well deserving Dogs in a home together. They will be up to ... (Read More)date on Vacs, Heartworm Tested and Keller neutered. Rescue Me ID: 17-10-17-00095Cooper (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Ok, so he is 12 years old but don't let that fool you-Cooper has a lot of vim and vigor! What a perfect combination, the spunk to keep us and go for walks and be active with his family, but the maturity to not be over the top exuberant. Cooper likes the finer things in life whether it be a brisk walk in the crisp fall air or a warm nap on a snuggly blanket, and he is not slouch when it comes time for a nice dinner! Cooper was given up by his family due to his seasonal allergies. Apparently they flare up this time of year and in the spring. He gets a little itchy but nothing to serious. We gave him a soothing bath and if it gets bad a little ... (Read More)benadryl helps. We have many dogs with similar issues, my own bulldog is 10 x worse, thats a bulldog for you. This season seems to really be tough on dogs and people with allergies. But, Cooper is doing just fine. He is a happy guy, loves his people and is doing well with the other dogs. At first he was not too happy about the rowdiness of others but has learned to accept it. He will do well in a more peaceful home than ours. He probably had a nice quiet life and does appreciate quiet times. His adoption fee is $99. Please email Kristine at joysparrpows@gmail.com. Internal Notes (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

She wants to be...part of your world! Welcome to Animal Care League, little mermaid! Ariel is a 1 year old Rat Terrier/chihuahua mix who arrived at ACL as a stray. She came in with a big scab on her forehead and some nervousness in her heart - but no more! Ariel is a spunky, sassy, loving little whippersnapper who just wants someone to play with. She is living happily in foster care where her foster mom reports she is learning to relax more and more each day - Ariel is a busy lady! She loves playing with other dogs, snuggling, and then playing again. She'd really love to have another little dog friend to spend her days with. Ariel can be a ... (Read More)nervous nelly, and she has a lot of energy, so a small dog-savvy home is a must. She's very friendly but prefers older humans, so kids 10 and up are best. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adult Men Only

In the last year he has been socialized, taught how enjoyable car rides & walks are, learned that he really likes love and affection! But everything is on his terms. He backs down from nothing and is as stubborn as a mule. He is a 'guarder' He needs a male companion that respects his disposition and has the patience to find a common ground. Animal ID: 15-01-05-00483Doug and Sue (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Doug and Susan are a pair of adorable yet shy rat terrier siblings looking for a loving guardian. We don't what kind of situation Doug and Susan came from, but they are much more trusting of other dogs than they are of people. Doug is nine pounds and Susan is only seven pounds. They were turned into Chicago Animal Care and Control by their family. I'm assuming the family had a lot of dogs and didn't spend much time socialized them with people. So, Doug and Susan are looking for a patient dog-lover to take them under their wing for training to boost their confidence and a lot of love. They groom each other, snuggle together, and never let ... (Read More)each other out of view. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-02-00469Trixie (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

All Trixie wants for Christmas is a real home who will love and care for her forever! Trixie was dumped with her mom and siblings on a rural road and then in a no kill very rural shelter for a year with no socializing. She is shy of strangers, better in a home without children not because she's bad but because she wouldn't know how to act around them. Once she adjusted to being handled she was very easy to leash train, crate train and all around did great and has a more confident energetic personality then her 2 sisters. She tends to bark at things when she is outside or hears something, hunting dog personality. Quite when crated and in the ... (Read More)house, but would probably bark at things outside a window if she could see something. She was intimidated by our bossy cat, current on vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped. She was heartworm negative when tested last year and has been on preventative. She's good with the dogs she is with but will be bossy with them if she can get away with it. She is dominant over her very shy, submissive sister. She really doesn't know any commands but would love someone who would like to teach her some fun tricks, and that there are other great people out there besides us. She is now almost 2 years old and weighs 28 pounds. Vet's phone number you use currently or in the past is required to adopt for a reference. We have 30 rescued dogs of all sizes all praying for a real home! Please do not consider a dog for Christmas unless you want a dog as a family member for its whole life. (Less)
