Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

I am not the owner of these dogs but I am close to them. I used to train them and walk them until I moved. Blanca and Chewy are blue heeler/Rat terrier mixes. They are 6 years old. Brother and sister. They will not last in animal controls. They are on the smaller side and are 25-35lbs if that. I don't know for sure. They haven't been to the vet in a long time. They will need shots. Blanca is spayed though. Chewy is still intact. They are relatively healthy other then not having shots. I am trying my damnest to keep them out of AC. I am reaching out to EVERYONE I can think of. They are kept in a pen 24/7 and the only attention they get is to ... (Read More)be fed and that only every 2 days. I am begging for someone, anyone to help them. They LOVE children and the attention children only can give. Cats I am unsure about but the strays that run about the outside of their pen. They will need to learn how to socialize with other dogs. I have included a pic. (Less)

Tyson is a sweet, and shy seven-year-old, 15-pound, male, Rat Terrier/Min Pin-mix looking for a loving guardian. Tyson is known as the mayor of Famous Fido's. Since he arrived at the shelter over a year ago, he has befriended every other dog that has arrived at the rescue. He's a little less trusting of humans due to his tragic past '| dumped at Chicago Animal Care and Control by the family he trusted, he was depressed and untrusting. With the help of staff and volunteers, Tyson has come around beautifully. He begs to be the first dog walked each day even in cold weather and appears to be housebroken if he gets out regularly. He's also ... (Read More)crate-trained. He's looking for a patient dog-lover willing to put in the time to gain his trust. When Tyson feels comfortable around you, he is an incredibly loyal and loving dog who enjoys being loved and having his butt scratched. Animal ID: 1337Spice (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Spice, a frisky little 13-lb., 7-year-old Rattie with an extra sweet disposition and just a tad bit of terrier mischievousness. Spice is very social and really great with all people, including children, though sometimes her energy and lightening quick moves can frighten the little ones. On a walk around the neighborhood, she adores attention and often rolls on her back to beg for a tummy rub. At home, she wants to be close to her people, preferably in a lap or next to someone on the couch. Spice is completely house trained and will come tell you when she needs to go out. Sometimes she sneezes to get your attention! She is also crate ... (Read More)trained and accustomed to staying in her crate at night and when no one is home. She often goes in the crate on her own to take a nap. Spice has very high prey drive and will stalk and chase any critter her size or smaller, so she needs a home without cats or other small pets. She gets along and plays well with some dogs that she knows, but can act aggressive with strange dogs that come to 'her house' and when meeting them on walks. Spice is well behaved for the most part. She knows the commands sit, stay, down, and in-your-crate. She can be an escape artist, however, and if she dashes out the door or slips her leash, she is hard to catch. A securely fenced yard would be a big plus, otherwise she needs to be on a leash at all times when outdoors. Spice would love to be a part of your family. She can't wait to meet all of your friends and neighbors! Are you ready to add a little Spice to your life? ================================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Spice, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Mickey is a high-energy, 12-pound, 18-month-old, Chihuahua/Terrier-mix looking for a loving guardian. Mickey landed at Chicago Animal Care & Control due to no fault of his own. He was rescued by Famous Fido, and spends his days with all the other dogs at the shelter. Typical of any young dog, Mickey is looking for someone with the time and energy to train and exercise a young dog. He loves walks, but needs multiple walks a day to perfect his housebreaking. Mickey is fast! And wiggly '| for this reason, he's recommended for adults and teens who can make sure to give him the training he needs so he doesn't dart out the door and get lost. He ... (Read More)loves his treats and will love training classes. He dances for treats and takes them gently from your fingers. Mickey is healthy, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested, neutered and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly foster or adopt Mickey, please fill in the on-line adoption application at http://famousfidorescue.com/rescueforms/machform/view.php?id=26727 and follow up by contacting Gloria at fido@famousfidorescue.com or 773-907-0305. Animal ID: 1277Chris (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Loving little Chris is the perfect movie companion! He will protect his human during scary movies and enjoy a nice cuddle during comedies, too. He is such a happy little guy with quite the spring in his step! He greets his humans with a wagging tail and a joyful leap. At just 11 lbs., he is a tiny little fellow. He gets along well with other dogs but would let everyone else eat his food if they weren't carefully watched. He enjoys playing with other dogs and has appointed himself the boss of his canine foster brother who is a lab. Chris is very agile at 12 years old. He is very patient with young babies. His house manners are already ... (Read More)excellent -- he is reliably potty trained and knows 'sit,' and 'down' -- but he would love to learn more because he really enjoys his training sessions and is a quick learner. Chris loves to chew on bones and toys. He does have skin allergies that are kept under control on a fish-based dog food diet. Because he gets anxious in high stress situations, he would thrive in a home with low-key owners who make him feel secure and loved. Check out his photo album at http://www.imageevent.com/newrattitude/chris. ================================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Chris, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in Illinois
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
