Rescue Me ID: 14-12-14-00288Saki (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Saki just turned 9 years old in December 2014. We have had Saki since he was 8 weeks old. Unfortunately with our growing family, living in the city, and both parents working, Saki is not getting the attention he deserves. Our absence from home M-F has been causing some anxiety. Saki is great with kids and a very good dog, just in need of more attention. At this point we just want to find him a good home outside of a shelter.

Louie is a very friendly, playful, quiet and loving, nine-pound, eight to nine-year-old, male Chihuahua looking for a loving guardian. Louie was dropped off at Chicago Animal Care and Control after being found stray. He is so outgoing that he'll crawl into anyone's lap. Louie seems fine with other cats and small dogs after his initial introduction. But his true love is humans. He loves walks and hanging out with his people. He'd do best with children over 12 due to his age. Louie has been recovering nicely from a skin infection... after a three-month stay at the rescue his hair is growing back. He's a sweet, happy guy whose tail is always ... (Read More)wagging. He doesn't appear to know formal commands, but he will dance for treats and take them gently from your fingers. Louie lets you pick him up and hold him. In fact, he loves snuggling. He is de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines. Due to a heart murmur, he has not been neutered. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill in the on-line adoption application at http://famousfidorescue.com/rescueforms/machform/view.php'| and follow up by contacting Gloria at fido@famousfidorescue.com or 773-907-0305. Rescue Me ID: 14-11-04-00223Magpie (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Meet Magpie! She is a super cuddle bug that likes to snuggle under blankets, pillows, sweaters, etc! She is a little nervous at first but once she gets to know you, she loves to cuddle. She seems to do a little better with humans that have a more calm and soft energy as she has some fearfulness (she belonged to a hoarder). She smothers my 1 year old with kisses every day, but then if he startles her she will nip so older kids would be best. We have another little one on the way and the energy level in the house just isn't calm enough for her so she's nervous and on edge quite a bit which isn't fair to her. She'd be great as an only dog, with ... (Read More)an older couple or person as a companion or with a family with older kids that will respect her space and needs. She does just fine with our kitties and other dog so either way, she'd be great! (Less)

Dottie's Story... Dottie is a funny girl! She was rescued from a Southern Illinois pound where she was never reclaimed. She is unique in many ways! First of all, she loves to be snuggled and kissed and the whole time you are doing it she likes to growl and talk to you! She has a lot to say! 2nd reason is her combination of her breeds! Papillon and Rat Terrier, what a great pup! She LOVES to fetch. She loves to fly off the couch and got get the thing you threw and fly back in the fastest amount possible. Animal ID: 1457Bandit (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bandit, a 19-lb., 5-year-old fellow, wants you to know that, despite his name, he has never stolen anything. In fact, he has worked hard to overcome a tough start in life--one which included being surrendered to the humane society not once but TWICE when his family had to move! Not surprisingly, Bandit developed some separation anxiety, but with patience and love from his New Rattitude foster family and the help of some anxiety-reducing medication, he has become more relaxed and comfortable with normal daily activities. Now having learned to give and receive affection from those he trusts, he loves to snuggle and have his belly rubbed, ... (Read More)temples massaged, and head patted. He is eager to jump into his foster parents' lap and give gentle kisses. This affectionate boy is also friendly with strangers, warming up to them quickly. Bandit seems a bit indifferent toward other dogs, and if they wish to play and he doesn't, he will either ignore them or give them a little bark to let them know he is not interested. Bandit is crate trained and keeps his crate clean when his foster mom is at work. He is also house trained and quietly announces his need by standing near the door to be let out. However, not being a fan of inclement weather, Bandit will resist going outside until it has stopped raining, preferring instead to cuddle through the storm. Bandit loves going on walks or jogs, and he is working on perfecting his already good leash manners by learning to take a seat when he sees other dogs. And while he is interested in the other critters he sees while on walks, he generally doesn't try to pull toward them unless he gets close to them. A dog who has tackled so many hurdles deserves a future filled with days of gentle, tail-wagging play and curling up in the lap of that special someone who has lots of patience and love to share. If you dare, check out some pictures of Bandit during training at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bandito , you may discover that Bandit will have stolen one thing, after all--and that's your heart. ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Bandit, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. When you first meet adorable little Hobbes, you hear a growl and you take a step back. He does the same thing to dogs when he first meets them. The funny thing is, he really loves everyone.
