Animal ID: 17-10-20-00406Perry Como (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We are fostering 'Perry Como' dog, small mini poodle-terrier mix, who is good-natured, happy, and HEALTHY. He's a real charmer looking up at you with those big eyes! He's in search of the right furever home. We saw him on the internet via the 'Saving Carson Shelter Dogs' volunteer group who posts info for dogs at high-kill Carson Shelter (Gardena, CA). He came in as a stray; was on a 4-day stray hold. No one came to claim him. We requested Dexter Foundation (501c3) of Redondo Beach, CA to pull Perry from the shelter for us to foster him - saving his life as he was at his 11th-hour. He's about 5-8 yrs (per our vet), wgt 12 lbs. Neutered, ... (Read More)vaccinated, and micro-chipped at Carson Shelter. Vetted via our personal vet with screening labs and dental cleaning. Med'd for flea-tick-heart worm. Had him professionally groomed (soft wavy hair - no shedding noted). Loves playing with toys, fetching ball, going for walks, riding in car, and snuggling with his head on your lap. He gets along well with our two spayed small female dogs. Being a male, he has some dominance tendencies (for example, likes to play 'King of the Castle' on the couch), so would be best to be an only dog, or with other dog(s) that are more submissive. -If you have interest, contact us for further general information. -If there is interest to adopt, the formal adoption process would go through Dexter Foundation, who adopts out to Southern California. They have a website with adoption application (dexterfoundation.com) where Perry Como is also posted. Adoption donation is provided to Dexter Foundation. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-10-10-00315Aggie and Allie (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Agatha (Aggie) and Allie are two sweet little girls who were rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. Allie was rescued first but she was very depressed. She would not lift her head or engage. The rescuer suspected there was a counterpart and went searching. It was discovered that her bonded 'person,' either a sibling or mother, was on a transport list to the State of Washington the very next day! We rushed to stop the transport and Agatha was reunited with Allie at Angel's Heart Dog Rescue. When Allie saw Agatha again, Allie was instantly very content and happy. She came to life. Both dogs are very sweet and mostly quiet and mellow. ... (Read More)Both dogs are cherubs and big tail wagers once they are comfortable. Allie is more shy and timid, looking to Aggie for confidence and security, while Aggie is more gregarious and easily approaching. It takes longer for Allie to come out of her shell, but day by day she is showing her sweet personality and a goofy nature at times too. Both dogs are around 8 lbs. Both dogs are good eaters (not picky) and love treats. Agatha (Aggie) is very enchanting and tail wagging and loves treats and food. Her coat is mostly black, but with white markings, and she is age 5. We are sad that many black dogs are passed over; they are discriminated against, even when they have darling personalities. Me, personally, I prefer a dog with a great personality. Black is a very rich color especially when the coat is healthy, and many great dog breeds are black. Also, when there are some white markings, the dog is mistaken to look 'old' but please do not misunderstand; white markings does NOT mean gray hair or an old dog. Agatha is very young and full of spunk and her teeth are in very good shape. She loves to rise up on her hind legs, follow me around, be held and cuddle, and give kisses! We hope to find someone who will give her a chance and see what a great little pal she is! Allie is very sweet too. She is SUPER cute with her tri-colored coat and is a bit shorter than Agatha. She LOVES to cuddle with her dear sweet Aggie and be by her side as much as possible. She loves to follow me, and come around me to sneak in a kiss on my foot or hand and dart away, coming back for more. Compared to Aggie, Allie may always be the more introverted one, but more of her cute personality comes out every day. Allie is about age 2-3 and her teeth are also very good. Even though Allie is timid of a new person, she is submissive and it does not manifest in an aggressive manner. One merely has to be patient with her to allow her to build trust and as long as Agatha is with her, Allie gets into step. Both dogs are well crate-trained and sleep quietly throughout the night in their two little crates, side by side. Here at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave the house for a bit. They both enjoy their two meals a day and a little rawhide stick as a bedtime snack. They are doing pretty well with their housetraining, and with more repetition and reinforcement, should be stellar. Neither dog shows any destructive tendencies in the house, and in truth, they mostly just like to chill on a pet bed nearby in a main room or on a pet bed in the office while I work at the computer, always bonded together, wanting to be near the humans. They also share pet beds with the other dogs here at the rescue, large and small. The home we seek is one where obviously people will embrace a bonded pair. They cannot and will not be split up nor will we allow them to be split up post adoption. An adults only home with a couple or a single person would be ideal (and I am not suggesting that they are not kid safe by making this statement - I merely believe that an adults only home that is more on the quiet and non-active side is their best fit). I do not know how they would be with cats, but I presume OK with the proper introductions and adjustment. They both get along just fine with all other dogs here at the rescue. The adoption fee for this duo is $300.00. Both girls are spayed, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in discussing this duo, please contact Angel's Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.     - Hi, I'm Chuck. I'm a three-year-old Terrier/Cattle Dog mix (Everyone's still trying to figure out what I am). At a strong and compact 42 pounds, I can run very fast when I play fetch. My foster Dad(FD) takes me to the dog park and I get along with all the other dogs and people, but I'm there to play fetch! I'm very affectionate and sleep with my FD and I can use the floppy dog to go out. I did bite a guy however, he was quite drunk at the time, but he grabbed my snout and squeezed it hard. After it reached my pain threshold I lashed out and bit him. Well, I'm not like that normally though I have become sensitive to people touching me, ... PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in California
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
