Echo is a two-year-old Australian Cattle dog mix who weighs 45 lbs., is spayed, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. She is very playful and has a moderate energy level. Echo is super friendly and gets along well with all dogs - big and small. She is also good with cats, chickens and horses. She rides well in the car. She does not dig holes in the yard and sometimes barks, but has no separation anxiety behavior. Best of all, she is housebroken ... (Read More)with great manners and can use a doggie door. Echo is crate trained and sleeps through the night. Echo is very calm when walking on leash and sometimes nippy if someone is running. Echo is not a chewer or destructive, nor does she jump fences or try to escape. Echo will get on her doggie bed or furniture if allowed. She knows sit, stay, down and come, and enjoys snuggling and playing ball. There is no part of her body she won't let you touch. She likes bones and balls. If there is a kink to work out, it would be that she likes to herd children. She is not harmful, she just likes to protect and herd. If you have questions about Echo or would like to meet her, please contact Tara Swanson at 916.247.1426 or taraswanson123@yahoo.com. (Less)

Our Rat Terrier, named Tucker, is a lovable dog that is seeking a loving individual and/or family to adopt him. My wife and I have been caring for him for the past 10 years and due to personnel issues we need to find him a new home. Since the first day my wife and I welcomed him into the family he's been on the PetsMart Optimum Banfield Wellness program that takes care of all shots, dental checkups, and overall health. He's approx. 10 years old and approx. 16 lbs in weight. He enjoys laying in the sun (as you can clearly see), playing fetch and hanging with the family. He's been trained by my wife to walk on a leach, sit, roll over, and ... (Read More)speak on command. He's also a people loving dog that loves kids of all ages! Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Addison is a 2-year-old 15-lb. lover of the couch. If you are looking for a companion to hang out with you on the sofa and follow you around the house, she is your girl. She does take long walks four or five times a week, but overall she is pretty low energy. Addison gets along with her canine foster siblings--both the big dogs and a fellow Rattie puppy--and does well with other dogs she has met. She likes people, including small children, and will jump into anyone's lap. Addison is not food aggressive and shares her bowl with the resident puppy. She is house trained and sleeps quietly in her kennel at night although she doesn't like to go ... (Read More)in it during the day. She walks well on a leash. Addison is a sweet girl who wants nothing more than to cuddle with her human. She would do well in an apartment, a condo, or a house and would prefer to have someone home a good portion of the day. Doesn't she sound like the perfect buddy?     Fredrick is around 4 years old, such a sweetheart! He is great with other animals and people of all ages. He was an evidence dog from a hoarding situation out in the desert. We pulled him from a shelter in Coachella when he was at risk of being euthanized for space. He's a little muscle man, such a cute little body! And that face is so adorable! He's around 10 pounds, walks fine on leash, not a yapper and he's so appreciative of kindness. Poor kid, I can't imagine what a horrible life he lived until now. Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Imagine growing up in the very home where you were born and then, on the brink of adulthood, being thrown behind bars through no fault of your own. Well, that's sort of what happened to 3-year-old Aspen when she found herself uprooted and placed in a shelter. Remarkably, this sweet, affectionate, and resilient girl has quickly adapted to her foster home and is doing great!! Weighing just 13 lbs., Aspen is quite athletic and learns very fast. Understandably, she is a bit fearful of new things, but given a little time and patience, she eventually comes around. She loves taking walks, as well as cuddling up with her foster dad for a good nap. ... (Read More)She gets along great with the dogs and cats in her foster home and enjoys playing outside with the other dogs. And while she has not been around small children, as sweet as her personality is, we suspect she would do quite well. She is house trained and uses a dog door; and she loves sleeping in bed with her foster parents but is also content in a crate. Having survived that earlier traumatic time in her life, Aspen now just wants to put down her roots forever with the person or family looking for an awesome canine companion. PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in California
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
