Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Buttons was taken to the Ramona Humane Society in San Jacinto, CA by her owners saying they had no more time for her. She was rescued by our rescue, she was sick with a URI and was put on meds. We feel she was very lonely and not treated kindly. In the year and a half she has been with us she has learned & blossomed. She now gets along with other dogs, tries to chase the cats but a stern NO stops her! She loves to run in the yard, go on walks, lay by your feet, get hugs, scratches, watch TV, bark at the crows, loves warm baths, low fat treats. She has ALOT of living still to do and needs a mellow home with an older person or couple to love ... (Read More)her and take her for walks on the beach (Less)

Animal ID: 1496Bitzy (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bitzy is just a little bit of thing, weighing a little over 5 lbs. She is thought to be about 4 months old (probably born early July) so she will continue growing and will likely end up not much bigger than 10-12 lbs. when full grown. Right from the start in foster care, Bitzy showed a confident, curious, outgoing personality. She doesn't know a stranger and welcomes everyone with lots of kisses as though they were her long lost relatives. She attracts attention wherever she goes, not just by her cute-as-a-button appearance but also by her endearing nature and fun-loving spirit. She is a high energy gal who is quite possibly a Rat Terrier - ... (Read More)Jack Russell Terrier mix, so she needs a home with an active family, a fenced yard, and another dog she can play with. Bitzy plays very well with the other pups in her foster home and while she can be a little power house, she has learned to be respectful of the resident cats. She has also learned to use the doggie door to go outside to do her business and although she is not 100% perfect in her potty training yet, she is very close. She likes to hop through the doggie door to frolic in the yard with the other dogs. Bitzy is very smart little cookie who catches onto new things quickly, so a beginner puppy class would be a great way to start off her education. After a day full of running, romping, and exploring her new world, Bitzy will jump up on the couch and snuggle with her foster mom during TV time. Animal ID: 1498Bello (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bello is a 5-month old cuddle puppy (born early June). He is a pretty laid-back fellow who does like to play rambunctiously with his sisters but soon tuckers out and then goes to his crate to rest. Even better is when he gets to snuggle with his foster mom! Initially rather shy, Bello will check out new people and once he feels comfortable he will wander over to them in quest of some lovin'. Now weighing 6 lbs., Bello is likely a Rat Terrier - Queensland Heeler mix, with beautiful markings on his coat. He is respectful of the cats in his foster home and gets along great with all the other dogs. He has learned to use the 'potty park' in the ... (Read More)X-pen where he stays during the day while his foster mom is at work, and he has just recently learned to use the doggie door, so it is just a matter of time until he is house trained to only do his 'business' outside. Bello is new to everything and is just starting to be introduced to basic commands like come, sit, and stay. With his young age, he will surely soak it all up quickly, especially if he can enroll in a puppy class. He has a lot to learn and would do well in a home with a canine companion to confidently show him the world and play with him. He is not yet leash trained (but does catch on to things quickly), and since he is so curious, a safely fenced yard is a must. More photos of this adorable boy can be found in his photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bello. ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Bello, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bella is a very shy little puppy who needs a kind and patient mom or dad to gently expose her to all the wonderful things that life can hold for a dog. Born in early June, she is now around 5 months old, a good age to learn new things and bond with a loving family. Bella currently weighs around 6 lbs. and is believed to be a Rat Terrier - Queensland Heeler mix. She is a smart girl who is catching on quickly to house training; she knows how to use the doggie door and will use a 'potty park' while confined to an X-pen when her foster mom is at work. Animal ID: 1486Baxter (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sweet, quiet little Baxter is about 2 1/2 years old and all of 8.2 lbs., which includes the .5 lb. he has put on in a month after being found roaming the mean streets of a bad neighborhood. We don't know how he came to be homeless, but he may not have been that way all his life. He is completely house trained, obedient, walks great on a leash, rides calmly in a car, and has a lot of love in his tiny little body. Baxter mostly wants to be by his person as much as he possibly can. He is always looking for love, and you just cannot help but love this little fella back. He is not motivated by toys or treats but would do anything for some love ... (Read More)and attention, which is quite easy to give! The only discipline he ever needed was a firm 'no' and a stern look when he tried to mark his territory after a visit from two other male dogs. Baxter was diagnosed with a heart murmur and an irregular heartbeat, but he has been checked out by a cardiologist, who determined he can lead a normal life with these issues and does not require any on-going treatment at this time. It is just something that his new vet will need be aware of and check out when he has his regular exams. Baxter does need a quiet home, maybe with someone who is retired or not away from home for long periods of time. And although he likes all people, including children, he doesn't do well with a lot of commotion, so he should not be with younger children who might be too rough or energetic for him. Likewise, he gets along with other dogs, if they are of the laid-back variety. He may jump in to play for a minute or two and plays pretty hard for such a little guy, but really he is happiest in a lap or curled up beside anyone who will give him some lovin'. He is OK with cats indoors as long as they don't run, but when they do, he has chased them home out of the house and out of the yard. While this is something he may eventually learn not to do, it really would be best for him to go to a home without cats. Baxter wanted us to make sure that you know he will cry if he's put in a crate with the door closed unless that crate is in a car heading for someplace fun. He enjoys using his crate as his 'safe place' with the door open, and his house manners are so awesome, there is no need to ever close him up, anyway. At night, he sleeps curled up under a pillow next to his foster mom's head. Baxter is glad his homeless days are a thing of the past. Now he looking forward to a future where he can be someone's special companion. Could that future include you? Check him out in his online album at http://www.imageevent.com/newrattitude/baxterelkgroveca . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Baxter, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-13-00474Jupiter (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

A very cute, lovable rescue that was found in an abandoned litter under a house- I received him from a foster not knowing what I was getting into - Jupiter has fear aggression issues and will guard food - still working through housebreaking, he is fine in a situation where there is a fenced backyard with an open door but not so great in a house where he has to be taken out on leash. He is not good with cats - needs to be taken out first thing in the AM. I wish I could keep him but he is too much of a project for me to deal with as far as training plus I live in two different places and I think he needs more consistency - he is probably not a ... (Read More)good candidate for a house with children and for sure not a good candidate for a house with cats. He is best with a one-on-one situation. He is VERY loving and once you has gained his trust is affectionate and attentive. As he is part Jack Russell, he is a high-energy dog and requires lots of exercise. (Less)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, my name is Angelina, 'Angie' for short. I am 3 years old and weigh 13 lbs. I love to hunt for squirrels and run and play with my foster brothers and sisters. When I play, my foster mom says I sound like the Tasmanian Devil, but that's just me. I like to talk! I am house trained, but foster mom doesn't think I've had much training beyond that. In fact, she thinks that my previous owners forgot to teach me not to use my mouth to get attention. She thinks they played with me with their hands and feet instead of toys. Sure, it might have been cute when I was a puppy, but now I have to relearn not to use my mouth like that! Sometimes I use my ... (Read More)mouth to make bad or scary things go away--things like nail clippers--and she puts a thing called a muzzle around my mouth to keep all of us safe. Anyway, I am still 'in training,' learning not to use my mouth to communicate my every desire. She is teaching me 'kisses' and to pay attention to a toy in her hand instead of using my mouth to play with her hand. Luckily, I am highly food motivated and very smart, and foster mommy says that this makes me easier to train, but old habits can be hard to break and until I've earned my master's degree in this new behavior, I wouldn't be good around children. You know, they would wave their little hands and I would want to play with them with my mouth or they might even be scary--worse than the nail clippers--and...I wouldn't want to hurt them, or anybody. Since cats just look like big squirrels to me, I should probably not be tempted with any of them as housemates, either. My foster mom says that people who are 'terrier-savvy' would understand me completely and help me to show off my finer traits which, in addition to being cute, playful, and smart, include being a terrific snuggler! Oh, and when I am happy I also love to roll around on my back and show my belly! I am hoping that one of these humans called 'terrier people' checks out more pictures of me at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/angelinasandimasca because I am getting so excited just thinking about having my very own home! ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Angelina, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Hi! I am Prieto! I'm a 3-year old loving PATTERDALE TERRIER. I am a bit shy at first, but once I know I can trust you (especially if you give me food) you will be my favorite person. I am very loving and love to play fetch! I am also crate trained, potty trained and love walks. Since I am so little (only 10 lbs) large things may sometimes overwhelm me and I ask to be picked up. I also like it when things are calm around the house so I can relax. I love to give kisses and cuddle. My previous owners were a military family that fell in love with me after fostering me, but unfortunately were moving across country and could not keep me. Will ... (Read More)you be my furever one?     Edward was a severely overweight, blind dog that was one of 20+ dogs confiscated from an animal hoarder, and brought to a high kill shelter. When we learned that Edward had been placed on the euthanasia list, we stepped in to save him! This loving dog with the never quit attitude deserved better! While in the shelter, he had such severe painful glaucoma, that his eye had to be removed, and he's now completely blind, Even though Edward had little chance of getting adopted, we rescued him and got him the vet care he ...     White Rat Terrier about 8 lbs. Ziggy was found wandering the side streets of Hesperia, Ca in 2013. Attempts to find his owners were unsuccessful. He has obviously been abused and traumatized by humans and is very shy and afraid of being picked up. However he will allow it reluctantly with no aggression shown. He has never even come close to biting or snapping at anyone but would rather hide. He has come a long way in social skills but would enjoy a quiet environment, perhaps with an older couple or retired person looking for a buddy. Animal ID: 1335Finnegan (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Finnegan is a sweet 5-year-old Rattie who also doubles as a personal scheduler! This young man knows the value of routines, so if you're looking for someone to help put a little organization into your life, he's ready to be your man--or, should we say, dog! He likes his morning walk, his afternoon playtime, and that essential after-dinner stroll. He will even provide you with gentle vocal reminders when it is time for dinner, time for fun, or most importantly time for treats. He is very easy to have around, completely house trained, uses a doggie door, sleeps in bed with his foster mommy, walks well on a leash, and travels well in the car. ... (Read More)Lately he has even been joining foster mom for some short runs. Now, Finn knows he tends to be a bit timid, but he's working on it! He has started asking for attention from foster mom and even from the occasional guest, especially when said guest is ready to provide a nice butt rub. He also gets along with all of his canine foster siblings, and he especially likes his only foster sister and has fun chasing after her. He says he would do fine as an only dog or with one or two doggie siblings, and although there is no cat in his foster home, he is so sweet and gentle that he would probably get along with a cat, too. He doesn't want to seem picky, but since men can be scary to him (though he's learning to take food from them), he would like a female to be his main caregiver. Finn came into foster care with a good amount of extra weight and has been competing in his own personal version of 'The Biggest Loser,' but he has been the real winner, going from almost 23 lbs. down to 20 lbs. Like so many people who shed a lot of weight, Finn now has a good bit of excess skin, but he is not vain and since his vet isn't worried about it, he isn't either. He knows that his future family will see past his 'man boob' to the sweet, gentle fellow that he is and that their patience will help him continue to shed his fears and maybe even another pound. To see more pictures and follow the progress of this great little guy, go to http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/finnegan . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Finnegan, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Ritchie Rich is a 5-year old, neutered male dilute tri-coloured Rat Terrier mix. He is a real cutie and has come a long way from when first rescued. Ritchie would do best in a quieter home with large breed dogs or children as he is somewhat anxious. He crates well, walks nicely on a leash, is very smart and listens well. Ritchie weighs about 7.5-lbs and is very buff! He enjoys sunbathing, eating peanut butter and cuddle time.

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Aazeena...we're not sure what her beautiful name means, but it must be something akin to 'brave' or 'resilient' because that's exactly how we would describe this sweet Toy Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix who is 4 1/2 years old and weighs just 6 lbs. Despite a rough start in life that clearly included some abuse that made her hand shy and distrustful of people and caused her to nip if they approached too quickly, Aazeena has turned her life around in foster care and become totally affectionate with her foster mom and friends who visit often. She has put in much work to arrive at the point where she believes she is lovable, and now she is ready to ... (Read More)believe there is somebody out there who will love her forever. Mind you, with her earlier trust issues, she might not work for every family, especially those with young unpredictable children, but she would be a fabulous companion to someone who leads a fairly quiet life, and once she learns you're trustworthy, she will relax, drop her guard, and become a cuddle bug! Aazeena gets along with all the dogs she has met in her foster home and even tolerates the cat. She is house trained and will use a doggie door or potty pads if you are gone for a while and she has no access to the outdoors. She is great in the car and walks beautifully on leash, but what does she like the best? Just being a little couch potato and hanging out with her person and she's hoping that YOU will be the one to prove to her that people really are pretty nice, after all. Please visit Aazeena's online photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/aazena and view a video of her at http://www.youtube.com/embed/yxCioiq-kkU . ================================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Aazeena, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.
