Rescue Me ID: 14-07-28-00188Tessa (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed

Tessa is a very kind sweet gentle miniature rat terrier. My ex boyfriend could no longer keep her and needs to find her a home. She likes to be cuddled, is not much of a barker, eats very little and loves people. She would make a wonderful pet for an elderly person or a family with kids. She attaches to people easily which is why I ended up with her but I already have a dog and I travel too much to have 2 to have taken care of when I am gone. Lately she seems like she doesn't hear all the time. She is a sweet sweet dog and I hope I can find her a loving companion. Thank You

Animal ID: 1366Arianna (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Arianna is an adorable gal with the characteristic shorter legs and longer body of a Teddy-style Rat Terrier. Found as a stray in California's Central Valley, this 11-month-old, 12-lb. bundle of sweetness loves to play with the dogs that live in her foster home and gets along just fine with children and cats. Arianna has wonderful manners. She sleeps in a crate at night without making a peep, is reliably house trained, and even knows how to use the doggie door. She is also very good on a leash and loves to go for her evening walks but is still a bit nervous in cars. She is working with her foster mom on basic commands, like 'sit' and 'stay,' ... (Read More)and she already knows to come when she's called. Arianna bonds closely to her people and doggie friends, so she finds it very stressful to be left home alone, even in a crate. She currently takes allergy medication to control hair loss she displayed when she was overstressed, but her foster mom is in the process of weaning her off of the medication. She needs a home with at least one other dog if there are no people at home during the day to keep her company. For such a gentle little gem, that's not asking too much, now, is it? You can view a short video of Arianna at http://youtu.be/I2lnu5lyl1k . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Arianna, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Who doesn't love to hit a bullseye? To do that, you need a perfectly balanced arrow, and Arrow is one of the most well-balanced Rat Terriers you will ever meet! Currently weighing 13.5 lbs., this lively and lovely 6-month-old is expected to grow to a nice 18-20 lbs--a perfect size for someone who wants a companion for walking, hiking, or running. This smart pup is learning commands such as 'sit,' 'down,' and 'come' and working on his loose-leash walking. Arrow is also reliably house trained and knows how to use a doggie door. He plays happily with the other dogs in the household, loves his stuffed toys, but is afraid of the cats. ... (Read More)Well-mannered by nature, Arrow sits quietly and waits for his dinner while the other dogs are being fed. He sleeps well in his crate at night but, if invited, loves sleeping in a 'people' bed and is a great snuggle companion. Arrow is aiming for a good shot at a loving home and would be happy to show you more pictures of himself at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/arrowsandimasca . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Arrow, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Animal ID: 14-07-21-00401Peaches (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Peaches - 5-years old (In October) - born October 2009 (A Rat Tail Terrier Mix) Introducing 'Peaches' and she is one of the sweetest, cutest little dogs in the world. I have been Fostering her for approximately 4 %BD months. I was willing to do it until a home could be found, however, the Owner did not place her with adoption facilities and now I must find her a family friendly home. I would keep her myself if I knew I could afford to take care of her properly and be home more often, but duty calls and I must work quickly. I would like a family so that she enjoys the real experience of a caring home. It would be nice for her to have an ... (Read More)experience with another pet, if possible, and hopefully the love of older children to keep her company from time to time. She is a medium energy dog. Children that are busy with their own lives, but can give her some intermediate love and affection would be great. Peaches was a rescue animal only to find herself in another unstable home. She was left in a cage for hours on end without food or water by an owner that did not take time to train her on how to become house broken and able to roam freely throughout her apartment; so please, if you accept this animal, do not ever place her in a cage; If you require a sitter in order to take vacations, or emergency family trips, I will be happy to assist if and whenever possible at my home if preferred, or I may be able to assist you in finding the right reliable sitter. Currently, Peaches is house-broken with a doggy door. She does not have a trigger to tell you that she needs to go out, she will simply approach you excitedly and it's a guessing game, however she has never used the bathroom in the house even when I had forgotten to remove the doggie door cover after we returned from an errands road trip. Peaches is a quick learner, very smart and playful. Although she is fine with younger children and has been great with the grandchildren (ages 6 to 10) I believe she would be best with older children (8 and above) because when playing she tires easily if there is too much activity of the pulling of the ears, tail, and all of the things over excited children may do. She devours toys due to her little sharp teeth, but is careful when playing. I like to rough play with her, but she understands and immediately softens if I say to her 'No, too hard.' She understands and lightens up; she just gets very excited while playing and loves to chase and be chased. Peaches is also great around other animals; dogs and cats. She once had a cat as her playmate. She weighs about 30-pounds and is a blond terrier mix per her medical paperwork. She is very loving and man - does she love to give and receive kisses. She is well behaved, knows to stay out of the kitchen if requested, likes to go for rides in the car and is a very relaxed rider, and hates smokers! (Less)

Great Dog! He has been certified with Folsom Pet Resort for great behavior and training accomplishments. He sits, stays, crate trained and loves to shake hands. Not the typical Jack Russel....very well behaved, not hyper and listens to commands very well. One issue....he needs to have a human companion around and consistent schedule. He wants a walk, love and attention. Great companion to a retired person or someone that has home office.

She is well behaved, knows to stay out of the kitchen if requested, likes to go for rides in the car and is a very relaxed rider, and hates smokers! As of Monday - March 03, 2014 - she was examined, received all necessary vaccines and receives a monthly bath by the veterinarian's office. Since being in my care, her initial exam and all health care has been handled by Caring Hands Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Oaks, California. According to her medical information, she was 'Spayed' in 2009. She is a playful, loving dog and anyone would be blessed to have her. I am attempting to think of her negative habits and the only one I have experienced is that she may sometime become insecure and frightened by strangers entering the home. She can be told to just sit and stay quiet and generally obeys. There are other times when we are out and she is in a crowd where she simply enjoys the outing, allows people to come close, pet her and to those she warms up to very quickly, she is very friendly and will attempt to play with them right away. Everyone is either her friend or becomes her friend with a few treats. After all she has been through she is still a loving and trusting animal. There are times when she may appear a bit skittish when unsure of a situation or circumstance that is unknown to her, but overall is loving and very quiet in the house. Barking while outdoors is minimal and she also understands 'quiet Peaches' as a command. She loves the yard and does enjoy chasing other animals or things that excite her. She is a 'HOUSE DOG' but loves the outdoors! When she first arrived, she weighed 28-pounds'|her correct weight. I started out by cooking her meals twice a day because she had been use to going hungry and thirsty. She is now 33-pounds and we are still working on getting the weight back down to 28-pounds. However, she is no longer fearful of not having enough of food or water. She leaves food in her bowl until she wants it, and she has slowed down quite a bit with the water, yet she does drink plenty of water; it's in her nature. I hope you enjoy her photos. She will be an asset to any family. Thank You (Less)

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs

BinkyBoo is a 1-year old pup who was surrendered to a kill shelter when the family no longer wanted her. Largely ignored by her family, she spent her first year outside with another dog. Without much supervision, she became somewhat of a barker and received no training, so foster care is now a wonderful grand adventure for her! This tiny gal is really enjoying living inside a house with plenty of attention from her foster mom and other dogs to play with. She does try to annoy the cats who live there. BinkyBoo has learned to use the doggie door and is now reliably house trained. She is learning to walk on leash and respond to basic obedience ... (Read More)commands like come, sit, and stay. She goes right into her crate when it's time for bed and will lounge in her crate (with the door open) during the day. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Pixie is a sweet sprite affectionate playful youngster whose elderly Momma has surrendered her due to extended medical disabilities. She is attentive, bright and curious. She has recently learned how to play with other dogs at the local dog park and loves it. She has become great pals with her current temporary roommate, a Wheaton/Schnauzer mix, so a home with other dogs would be fine. She is a definite lapdog and at night burrows under the covers and curls up like a warm donut by your belly to sleep. Will rest her head on your shoulder from the top of the couch while watching you're watching tv. She was raised in her infancy with her three ... (Read More)siblings by a meticulous professional dog sitter who rescued a dog who unknowingly was pregnant. Her subsequent home provided her the Princess version of training, and she will need a fresh start on manners and etiquette - Basic Commands - but is an eager learner. She takes care of her business outside with the instruction to 'get busy.' She is skittish with strangers, but is currently learning to curb her protective vocal instincts in the home and is gaining trust in a variety of strangers at the park. She is athletic, with an amazing sense of balance and little springs in her tiny little legs that allow her easy access to the couch and bed. Not a fussy eater. Excellent co-pilot. Excellent health. She'll make a devoted companion to someone interested in having a loyal gentle appreciative shadow in a delicate small package. (With her radar ears, she'll even pull in extra cable channels if you choose to supply her with a forever home.) (Less)

Rat Terrier

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

White Rat Terrier about 8 lbs. Ziggy was found wandering the side streets of Hesperia, Ca in 2013. Attempts to find his owners were unsuccessful. He has obviously been abused and traumatized by humans and is very shy and afraid of being picked up. However he will allow it reluctantly with no aggression shown. He has never even come close to biting or snapping at anyone but would rather hide. He has come a long way in social skills but would enjoy a quiet environment, perhaps with an older couple or retired person looking for a buddy. He has trust issues with humans but longs for companionship. I sit in the rocker and let him come to me ... (Read More)and that works okay. He will even jump in my lap. Move slow is the key to winning this little guy over. (Less)

Personality: Average Energy
Health: Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Lily is very loving to her immediately family (all adults)She is happy to be in the backyard and in the house. She enjoys hugs and fetching the ball, however she is afraid to get near anyone who is not in our family. The problem we have with Lily is that when we leave her alone overnight, she will start gnawing at our garage door, outer gate or one of the door screens. But our biggest concern/worry is that she might snap, bite or hurt our two grand babies that we are now caring for 2 days a week. Lily is unpredictable, with any age. She gets nervous with any one outside our family. She has randomly snapped (unpredictably) at me and my husband ... (Read More)from time to time. Yet she loves to hug us and be right by our side. Lily needs a loving home where the care givers can give her lots of attention, but don't have children. I really can't trust her around children. I'm excited to connect Lily with a loving home. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Peaches is 6-years old, born October 2009. This is the sweetest, cutest little dog. She is a high energy dog and needs children or other pets to keep her busy, happy, and in perfect peace. She is house-broken with a doggy door. She is a quick learner and very smart and playful. Although she is fine with younger children and has been great with the grandchildren (ages 6 to 10) I believe she would be best with older children (8 and above) because when playing her little sharp teeth could hurt if not careful. Peaches is also great around other animals; dogs and cats. She is very loving and well behaved, knows to stay out of the kitchen if ...     Spirit is a toy Rat Terrier with maybe a pinch of Chihuahua. This darling 7-lb. 3-year-old is just about the sweetest little thing since cinnamon rolls came along. She wants nothing more than to have a human all to herself. She is a real love bug so will need an adopter who wants to share lots of lap and couch time. Spirit is easy to get along with. She does fine with the dogs in her foster home, big and small, and is very respectful of the cats. She loves car rides, walks well on leash, and sleeps in her crate every night without a peep. She comes when called, knows how to sit and stay on command, and is reliably house trained. Spirit is ...     Finnegan is a 5-year-old gentleman who has been following a new healthy lifestyle in his foster home and, as a result, has trimmed down to about 20 lbs. and still has a few more to lose. He is moving much more quickly these days, enjoying a good game of chase in the yard and walking if it's not too far or too fast. Although he is very timid around new people and seems most frightened of men, he has started asking for attention and wanting to play with his foster mom.
