Animal ID: 1323Apollonia (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Apollonia was found by a good Samaritan who helped rescue her after she and another larger dog had been dumped near his work place. He and his co-workers fed and befriended her, finally gaining her trust, then sought to get her into foster care. When this little 9-lb. gal first got to New Rattitude, Apollonia was very timid but sweet and soon acclimated to her foster home and all the other dogs residing there. She is sweet to the older cats but loves to chase the younger cat. At just about a year old, Apollonia hadn't had much training before foster care but is slowly learning how to walk properly next to her foster mom on leash. She sleeps ... (Read More)in a crate at night and when given the chance loves to sleep under the covers with her foster mom. Her house training has improved greatly and she has even mastered the doggie door, so she should be up to 100% reliable soon. Apollonia would do well with older teenagers but not young children, who make her nervous. She would love the attention in a quieter household -- maybe just a single woman with one other dog. Since she is very smart and a fast learner, she would probably excel in any training class, which would be a fun bonding exercise for her and her new owner. To see more photos of Apollonia, please go to http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/apollonia, and see a video of her at http://www.youtube.com/embed/SFe_AkE1LkA. ======================================================================================== If you are interested in adopting Apollonia, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sadie is a 9 month-old female, spayed Chihuahua terrier mix with a good energy level and a love of dogs parks. She was in danger of being euthanized at a local shelter and has been fostered/given socialization over the past month. She remains slightly skiddish around people she does not know but never aggressive. This has improved greatly over the past month and we're confident this will continue to improve.

These are two of the sweetest foster doggies I have had and I have taken in over 100 dogs over the years. These girls are extremely bonded and will need to stay together. They love to play together and keep each other entertained. They LOVE to give kisses and get belly rubs. They also LOVE to watch TV. They love cartoons and anything with animals on the channel. They love to cuddle in bed with you and will follow you anywhere. Adoption fee if 175.00 for the pair. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Peaches is 6-years old, born October 2009. This is the sweetest, cutest little dog. She is a high energy dog and needs children or other pets to keep her busy, happy, and in perfect peace. She is house-broken with a doggy door. She is a quick learner and very smart and playful. Although she is fine with younger children and has been great with the grandchildren (ages 6 to 10) I believe she would be best with older children (8 and above) because when playing her little sharp teeth could hurt if not careful. Peaches is also great around other animals; dogs and cats. She is very loving and well behaved, knows to stay out of the kitchen if ... Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Artie is a 1-year-old Toy Rat Terrier/Italian Greyhound mix weighing 8 lbs. Artie has had some trauma in his young life. We are not sure what happened to him, but he has a left head tilt, which could have been caused at birth or by a fever. When he bends his head down to track, he will sometimes look as though he is going to lose his balance and will circle in a funny way. He seems to have learned to compensate for his condition, and recovers very quickly when this does happen. Most of the time you would not know there is anything wrong with him -- just on those rare occasions he gets a bit wobbly. Artie is a bit slower to pick up on things ... (Read More)than other dogs, so he will need a kind and understanding human who will nurture his learning needs. He is in the process of being potty trained. He hasn't mastered the doggie door yet, but is working on it. What he lacks in sharpness, he more than makes up for in sweetness. He is good with other small dogs and with children, but is not good with cats. (A cat-free home is a must.) If you are up for a special needs dog who truly needs his own person, Artie's devotion will be your reward. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Armani is an extremely well behaved boy who aims to please! He is very playful and he loves fetching a tennis ball and going for walks. He has favorite toys that he plays with every day. He is very active and energetic and needs daily exercise. Armani gets along very well with his foster siblings and the cat in his foster home. He is very affectionate and sweet, and he loves to cuddle. In his foster home where he has access to a dog door, he is reliably house trained. Armani is a very young 10 years old and weighs about 16 lbs., with an athletic build. He enjoys car rides and goes to work with his foster mom a couple of days per week. This ... Armani has not been around small children in his foster home, but with his super sweet disposition, he would likely do well with them. He is used to being around teen-agers. Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

What a great dog Bleu is! This 9-lb, 1-year old boy is full of happy-go-lucky playfulness and energy. Bleu is always looking for a playmate -- either canine or human will do -- and he likes playing with toys, too. He enjoys stuffed toys and he loves to chase and sometimes retrieve tiny tennis balls, even knowing what 'drop' means. Check out how adorable he is in his video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBEyr73-IFs. While Bleu is super fast in chase mode, he does know how to walk nicely on a leash without pulling or running ahead. When not playing, he loves to cuddle, and will follow you wherever you go just because he wants to be with ... (Read More)you. Bleu is good with children and is currently living with a two-year old. He has not been observed with cats. Bleu sleeps quietly in a crate at night but also loves to sleep in the bed with his foster parents. House training is still a work in progress and is going well as long as he is closely supervised and taken out frequently. Although he doesn't have a doggie door in his foster home, he will freely go in and out if the slider is left open, so it's a good bet that he would do well with one because he is smart and learns quickly. Bleu is just a sweet, good-natured, bouncy, and lovable guy who wants to be part of the family and will be a great addition to any household lucky enough to adopt him. Animal ID: 1151Aaron (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Aaron is a 4- 1/2 year old Rat Terrier weighing 13.5 lbs. He was a favorite at the shelter, where he ended up after suffering horrific injuries, presumably being hit by a car. He sustained a broken jaw, which has healed perfectly, and a broken back, which miraculously did not paralyze him. This spunky little guy does walk and trot around in the yard, although he does it somewhat stiff-legged in his hind end. While it is past the point that surgery could help him, he does get some relief from Cosequin (a glucosamine and chondroitin supplement) and an inexpensive pain medication, which he could possibly be on the rest of his life. Despite all ... (Read More)this, Aaron has an amazingly resilient spirit. He is loyal and devoted like no other foster dog his foster mom has ever had. He loves to sit next to you or sleep on the bed. He needs a lift up, as he can't jump up, but he can jump down by himself. With a doggie door, his house training is 90% reliable. Aaron gets so excited when going for short walks. His adoring eyes speak volumes! He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, but will sometimes growl softly when the other dogs crowd him too much, likely because of his back and he is trying to keep himself safe. Aaron does not like cats. This mellow boy would be a perfect companion for a quiet adults-only household willing to continue his care. Animal ID: 1217Sammy (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sammy is an endearing, playful and mellow Rat Terrier who has quite a story to tell. Six years ago, at the age of 3, he found himself in a shelter. After being featured on the Los Angeles Channel 7 news as Pet of the Week, he was adopted out from the shelter. He reappeared in the shelter system last April. When the shelter traced the microchip, the previous adopters said they'd given him away to someone else with whom they no longer had contact. So Sammy sat in the shelter for 3 months since people were apparently reluctant to take a chance on a 9-year old. He shared a kennel with another Rat Terrier, and when New Rattitude arrived to save ... (Read More)his kennelmate, Sammy got sprung, too. The most amazing part is that Sammy's new foster mom discovered that she had met him previously, back in 2007 when she'd been volunteering with the shelter, and she even had photos on her computer of Sammy as a 3-year old dog. Call it karma, because this wonderful boy so clearly deserves the chance for happiness in a new home. He is a very nice dog who is house trained and has had some basic training (he sits very well on demand and is learning 'wait'). He is a very good listener and quick learner and of course loves his walks. While he will sleep in the crate at night, he sure prefers to sleep on the bed. He will even let you brush his teeth! Sammy enjoys rolling on his back and wiggling when he's really happy. He gets along well with his foster siblings and especially likes playing with his puppy foster brother. Of course he enjoys playing with his toys and getting treats. At 17.5 lbs., Sammy is the perfect size and will make a good traveling or hiking companion. Overall, he is content just to be with you and share life with you. ================================================================================================If you are interested in adopting this dog, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Ritchie Rich is a 5-year old, neutered male dilute tri-coloured Rat Terrier mix. He is a real cutie and has come a long way from when first rescued. PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in California
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
