Rescue Me ID: 14-09-01-00496Casey (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

My name is Casey. I am 4-5 months old female and a Terrier. My foster Mom says that in Kansas, where she used to live, they would call me a Rat Terrier. I was rescued from the Riverside County shelter with a badly broken leg. My leg is all well now. I was in a cast for almost 8 weeks. My foster family has taught me to get along well with other dogs, and I love the little kittens. But I have a lot of energy. I like to run; I like to chase balls-or other dogs. I am very little, and won't take up very much room. Please let me come live with you. I'm a lover. I'm spayed, and have a microchip and have had all my shots.

Animal ID: 1431Isabella (female)

Rat Terrier    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Being the tiniest of the four pups born in early June, indefatigable Isabella could be called the runt of the litter, but don't tell her that! This little darling is becoming more adventurous and less shy every day and is growing healthy and strong, currently weighing about 6 lbs. While we never know for sure, we think she will end up being the size of her mama--about 12 lbs. She is excited at the prospect of getting to explore the great outdoors after she completes the last of her puppy vaccinations the second week of September and even more thrilled at the prospect of being ready to be adopted after she is spayed the following week. For ... (Read More)the time being, however, she has a grand time chasing her sisters and brother, rough housing with her mama, and squealing with delight after she dive bombs under the couch. She especially enjoys it when her foster mom lets her have supervised playtime outside the ex-pen, where she spends most of her day with her littermates and where they sleep peacefully each night. Isabella is doing well with her house training and has learned to use a 'potty park,' only having an accident if she is playing too hard to get back to it in time. Because she is on the small side, she will need a home without young children, who may sometimes forget to be super gentle. She is hoping that when she is a little older, her adopter will take her to a puppy class so she can be the very best dog, but for now all adorable Isabella needs is that special someone who wants a lifetime companion. You can see more photos of Isabella at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/isabella and a video at http://youtu.be/LVPd9H_m2s4 . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Isabella, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Edward was a severely overweight, blind dog that was one of 20+ dogs confiscated from an animal hoarder, and brought to a high kill shelter. This beautiful 8 yr old boy was in terrible shape, and in danger of being euthanized due to his multiple medical conditions. When we learned that Edward had been placed on the euthanasia list, we stepped in to save him! This loving dog with the never quit attitude deserved better! While in the shelter, he had such severe painful glaucoma, that his eye had to be removed, and he's now completely blind, Even though Edward had little chance of getting adopted, we rescued him and got him the vet care he ... (Read More)deserves. He's lost weight, and getting the proper medication he needs. Edward has easily learned to get around without sight, has a lot of energy and is a very happy, playful boy! Edward has the best foster mom who loves him, and has helped him become a fantastic dog! Edward is looking for a guardian angel who realizes that not everyone can be perfect! Edward has a lot of love to give, and his courageous spirit is uplifting and inspiring to everyone he meets. Edward is house trained, walks well on a leash, fully independent around the house, friendly to everyone he meets, and even gets along well with other dogs! Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Anna-Marie is a 1-year-old, 12-lb. beauty, who gave birth to four adorable puppies just three weeks after coming into New Rattitude's care. She has been very busy being a terrific mama, but now that her puppies are weaned and she is getting her girlish figure back, Sweet Anna-Marie is ready to focus on finding a home of her own. She loves to play with other dogs, so she would very much like her home to have canine pals. She is friendly with everyone she meets--men, women, and kids--and even tolerates cats (with an occasional chase, if given the chance). She is house trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and can use potty pads, if ... (Read More)necessary. Anna-Marie was so busy tending to her pups that she did not get much time for learning commands and such, but she is currently learning some basics, including leash walking. Anna-Marie picks up things so quickly that with just a little training, perhaps a beginner puppy class, she is likely to become the 'perfect' dog. Anna-Marie invites anyone looking for a loving, young, and active companion to take a closer look at her in her online photo album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/annamarie or on her video at https://www.youtube.com/embed/mU-gFgirYpw . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Anna-Marie, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Meet Henry! He is a Chihuahua/rat terrier mix about 9 or 10 years old and weighs about 9 lbs. He is super sweet and has a gentle soul. He needs a quiet home to relax and just chill. He's great around other dogs and would be a wonderful companion for a senior citizen because he's so mellow and doesn't bark. He has lots of missing teeth and came from the Lancaster shelter. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Dainty little Alicia is a 10-month-old Rat Terrier, who weighs 7.5 lbs. Alicia can be timid at first, but in no time at all, this love bug will warm up to you and begin to snuggle and give you little kisses. She likes to take stuffed animals and play 'keep away' from the other dogs in her foster home. She loves to run as fast as her little legs will carry her through the yard, playing with the bigger dogs. Alicia is reliably house trained using a doggie door and is working hard on her loose-leash walking and basic commands such as 'sit.'     Tessa is a very kind sweet gentle miniature rat terrier. My ex boyfriend could no longer keep her and needs to find her a home. She likes to be cuddled, is not much of a barker, eats very little and loves people. She would make a wonderful pet for an elderly person or a family with kids. She attaches to people easily which is why I ended up with her but I already have a dog and I travel too much to have 2 to have taken care of when I am gone. Lately she seems like she doesn't hear all the time. She is a sweet sweet dog and I hope I can find her a loving companion. Thank You

Animal ID: 1443Arrow (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Arrow is a lively and lovely 6-month-old, who currently weighs 15 lbs. and is expected to grow to a nice 18-20 lbs--a perfect size for someone who wants a companion for walking, hiking, or running. This smart pup is learning commands such as 'sit,' 'down,' and 'come' and working on his loose-leash walking. Arrow is also reliably house trained with a doggie door. He plays happily with the other dogs in the household, loves his stuffed toys, and has started to invite the resident cats to join him for some fun with a play bow here and there. Well-mannered by nature, Arrow sits quietly and waits for his dinner while the other dogs are being fed. ... (Read More)He sleeps well in his crate at night but, if invited, loves sleeping in a 'people' bed and is a great snuggle companion. Arrow can be timid around new people and can act and bark like the 'tough guy' that he isn't, but he looks to his foster mom for reassurance and listens well to her. He hopes that his adopter will continue to work with him on socialization so that he feels comfortable enough to let everybody see what an awesome dog he really is. For now, quick movements and loud noises can be scary, so he would probably not be comfortable around young children who are masters at all things quick and loud. This little Arrow is aiming for a loving home, and he may have set his sights on you! Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Peaches - 5-years old (In October) - born October 2009 (A Rat Tail Terrier Mix) Introducing 'Peaches' and she is one of the sweetest, cutest little dogs in the world. I have been Fostering her for approximately 4 %BD months. I was willing to do it until a home could be found, however, the Owner did not place her with adoption facilities and now I must find her a family friendly home. I would keep her myself if I knew I could afford to take care of her properly and be home more often, but duty calls and I must work quickly. I would like a family so that she enjoys the real experience of a caring home. It would be nice for her to have an ... (Read More)experience with another pet, if possible, and hopefully the love of older children to keep her company from time to time. She is a medium energy dog. Children that are busy with their own lives, but can give her some intermediate love and affection would be great. Peaches was a rescue animal only to find herself in another unstable home. She was left in a cage for hours on end without food or water by an owner that did not take time to train her on how to become house broken and able to roam freely throughout her apartment; so please, if you accept this animal, do not ever place her in a cage; If you require a sitter in order to take vacations, or emergency family trips, I will be happy to assist if and whenever possible at my home if preferred, or I may be able to assist you in finding the right reliable sitter. Currently, Peaches is house-broken with a doggy door. She does not have a trigger to tell you that she needs to go out, she will simply approach you excitedly and it's a guessing game, however she has never used the bathroom in the house even when I had forgotten to remove the doggie door cover after we returned from an errands road trip. Peaches is a quick learner, very smart and playful. Although she is fine with younger children and has been great with the grandchildren (ages 6 to 10) I believe she would be best with older children (8 and above) because when playing she tires easily if there is too much activity of the pulling of the ears, tail, and all of the things over excited children may do. She devours toys due to her little sharp teeth, but is careful when playing. I like to rough play with her, but she understands and immediately softens if I say to her 'No, too hard.' She understands and lightens up; she just gets very excited while playing and loves to chase and be chased. Peaches is also great around other animals; dogs and cats. She once had a cat as her playmate. She weighs about 30-pounds and is a blond terrier mix per her medical paperwork. She is very loving and man - does she love to give and receive kisses. She is well behaved, knows to stay out of the kitchen if requested, likes to go for rides in the car and is a very relaxed rider, and hates smokers! (Less)

According to her medical information, she was 'Spayed' in 2009. She is a playful, loving dog and anyone would be blessed to have her. I am attempting to think of her negative habits and the only one I have experienced is that she may sometime become insecure and frightened by strangers entering the home. She can be told to just sit and stay quiet and generally obeys. There are other times when we are out and she is in a crowd where she simply enjoys the outing, allows people to come close, pet her and to those she warms up to very quickly, she is very friendly and will attempt to play with them right away. Everyone is either her friend or becomes her friend with a few treats. After all she has been through she is still a loving and trusting animal. There are times when she may appear a bit skittish when unsure of a situation or circumstance that is unknown to her, but overall is loving and very quiet in the house. Barking while outdoors is minimal and she also understands 'quiet Peaches' as a command. She loves the yard and does enjoy chasing other animals or things that excite her. She is a 'HOUSE DOG' but loves the outdoors! When she first arrived, she weighed 28-pounds'|her correct weight. I started out by cooking her meals twice a day because she had been use to going hungry and thirsty. She is now 33-pounds and we are still working on getting the weight back down to 28-pounds. However, she is no longer fearful of not having enough of food or water. She leaves food in her bowl until she wants it, and she has slowed down quite a bit with the water, yet she does drink plenty of water; it's in her nature. I hope you enjoy her photos. She will be an asset to any family. Thank You (Less)

Rat Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

BinkyBoo is a 1-year-old pup who was surrendered to a kill shelter when her family no longer wanted her. Despite being largely ignored by the family and spending her first year outdoors with another dog, this little girl is extremely affectionate. She is really enjoying living inside a house with plenty of attention from her foster mom and other dogs to play with, although she will try to annoy the resident cats. BinkyBoo has learned to use the doggie door and is now reliably house trained. She is learning to walk on leash and respond to basic obedience commands like 'sit' and 'stay,' but 'come' is still a challenge. She goes right into her ... (Read More)crate when it is time for bed and will lounge in her crate (with the door open) during the day. Life is definitely good for her now, and she looks forward to learning even more in her adoptive home. With continued supervision and training, she hopes to reduce her love of barking--a little habit she probably picked up in her previous home. All Miss BinkyBoo really wants and needs is a person all her own to cuddle with, just like she does now with her foster mom when they watch TV, but she asks that everyone in her adoptive home be gentle with her since she is an itty-bitty girl weighing only 6 lbs. See more photos of this pint-sized cutie at http://imageevent.com/NewRattitude/BinkyBoo and watch her latest video at http://www.youtube.com/embed/T8Lby51vKwM .=======================================================================================If you are interested in adopting this dog, please go to New Rattitude's website at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm, where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application.     Lily is very loving to her immediately family (all adults)She is happy to be in the backyard and in the house. She enjoys hugs and fetching the ball, however she is afraid to get near anyone who is not in our family. The problem we have with Lily is that when we leave her alone overnight, she will start gnawing at our garage door, outer gate or one of the door screens. But our biggest concern/worry is that she might snap, bite or hurt our two grand babies that we are now caring for 2 days a week. Lily is unpredictable, with any age.
