Lainey is an quirky, little RatChi. She loves people but is still a bit frightened of them. At night she cuddles in so close to you under the covers, but she is very shy by day. it will take a patient and loving person to be her human, but it is so worth it. She was very nervous around other dogs when she first came from the pound, but now enjoys sitting beside them on the couch. the other day, I even caught her playing with Ezra! She loves to play Zoom Doggie and talk to you in a squeaky, little voice. She is super adorable!

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-21-00033Chloe & Buzz (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Chloe and Buzz were left behind when their family moved away, despite telling neighbors they would be back for them. They were saved from being run over in a busy highway near their former home, taken to a local clinic & given rabies vaccinations. Buzz was already neutered & ages are the vet's estimate. Not clear if Chloe is spayed or not. They were well behaved at the clinic & walked well on the leash. Chloe is not trustful of strangers (good watchdog quality), but a treat will win her over. Buzz is everyone's friend. Due to being abandoned together, they will only be adopted together & adopter must agree to keeping them together for life. ... (Read More)A home check & adoption contract are required. They will go only to a home with only older children or a couple. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-19-00403Gogo, Jr. (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Gogo, Jr. Why the name? Well, there's an old dog named Gogo who is kind of porky. He also has similar markings so when we saw this little chunk enter the world with that single black spot at the base of his tail and an appetite to shame all others, we knew that Gogo, Jr. had arrived. GGJ is Cannoli's favorite. She fed him the most, and, now that he's weened, she plays with him the most. Gogo is a sweet, confident, well-adjusted pup-but he WILL hog the food bowl. He is solid: 25 lbs at 22 weeks old. He's probably going to be a medium to large sized dog. Now, I know it may be a stretch, but i'm almost thinking that I may see some ... (Read More)Rottie goin' on, but no worries! This baby is a sweetie. Gogo, Jr.'s siblings are Stevie Ray and Sugar Ray. To apply for one of these pups, please submit an application via Out of the Woods Rescue: http://www.ootwrescue.org/adoptionprocessid47.html Adoption fee of $150 will help offset vet costs. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-19-00399Stevie Ray (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is sweet Stevie Ray. Like his brother, Sugar Ray, Stevie looks black labbish with maybe a little something else thrown in for good measure-Shep? Chow? Where Sugar has a full white splotch on his chin, Stevie's maker opted for the soul patch. He also has longer hair with a bit of a wave to it. Stevie will tolerate being held like a baby in the crook of your arm and will spontaneously flop down on his back for a tummy rub, even in the midst of a puppy riot. Stevie is a little more cautious than his siblings and is sometimes found lagging behind to hang out around the heater with the more mature dogs in the house. When Stevie feels safe ... (Read More)he is a low-maintenance, sweet, laid-back doggy; however, he can be overwhelmed in a busy new environment. This poor little guy is going to need to start out in a quiet place with an adult who has the time and patience to build his confidence and win his trust. Once he's comfortable, he's just fine with children. Stevie weighs 19 lbs at 21 weeks and will probably grow to be 30 ish pounds. His mom is a rat terrier / corgi x. Stevie Ray's remaining (for adoption) siblings are Gogo, Jr. and Sugar Ray. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-19-00397Suagr Ray (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This is Sugar Ray. He's a long, lean, little fella (at 21 weeks weighing 25 lbs) who likes to shadow box with his precious white-tipped paws and yawn with a human-sounding 'Yoooooow!' With black lab good looks, Sugar will charm a milkbone right out of the box. Always the first at a thrown tennis ball, Sugar Ray is a natural retriever. What makes him special is that he does it with an air of composure unseen in the insanely insistent labs infected with mindless 'ball drive'-no hyperventilating, no drooling, no whining, no hypnotic stare, no pressing the slimy ball against your hand-Sugar will simply sprint after the ball, then drop it calmly ... (Read More)at your feet upon return. What a good boy. Sugar Ray demonstrates his acumen in other ways, too: he anticipates the call to supper and can be found already sitting patiently in his crate, having scadoodled there at the first sound of a lid coming off a can. Like his brothers, Sugar is shy, but he does warm up once he feels safe. Although he loves to to romp with his siblings, his primary focus seems to be people. Nothing thrills him as much as being swooped up and held against your chest where he will gently squirm in delight. Sugar Ray will probably grow to 40 - 45 lbs. His remaining (available for adoption) siblings are Gogo, Jr. and Stevie Ray. (If you hold Sugar and Stevie side-by-side, you'll notice that their paws make good bookends: each has more white on the opposite paw and just a crescent of white tip on the other.) Rescue Me ID: 14-10-28-00779Hattie (female)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

10-21-14 What a sweetie we have to introduce you to! Meet our adorable Hattie! She is a young Jack Russell mix, around a year old, but she is very calm and gentle. Hattie was an instant volunteer favorite upon arrival with her reserved and quiet nature. If you are looking for a low-key, no nonsense dog, Hattie is definitely one to check out. She is full of love and longs to be one-on-one with a human. Other dogs are fine for company, however, she dearly loves a lap to lounge in, but isn't a demanding girl. Her low energy level and ability to get along with everyone is a definite plus for Hattie. She is the perfect size house dog and will be ... (Read More)a great companion in a quiet home. We would be happy to send you an application today! Visit us on Facebook at The Charleston Dog Shelter for more photos of Hattie and our other great dogs! (Less)
