Patches has been out and about for a while, roaming the neighborhood, and finally someone was able to gain his trust. He was nobody's dog apparently, just living day by day on the kindness of strangers. In his foster home now for a few weeks, he is settling in and loving the life of having a family. He lives with a couple of cats and dogs and he gets along well with both of them. He loves playing with both of them, while he does chase the cat, it's all because he wants to be play with them. He loves toys, any and all, he's not picky. He is crate trained, potty trained, and he's picked up using the doggy door in no time whatsoever! He's a ... (Read More)smart little dude! He can be shy at first, sometimes sudden hand movements scare him. He will warm up to you, and trust you, he just needs a little time. And it won't take long at all. He loves to be cuddled and held, and fits perfectly in your arms. He's been around children, and would actually be a great friend, especially a play mate!! As part of your adoption package, each dog will be fully vaccinated (Da2PP, Rabies), have a microchip, and be spayed/neutered. If the dog is not spayed/neutered at time of adoption, you will be required to transport the dog to/from the drop-off point on surgery day. You will receive a free bag of premium dog food, and if you live in the designated zip codes, you will also receive a $50 gift card from Choice Pet Market. You are also entitled to 2 FREE training sessions with our trainers. (Less)

Animal ID: 14-11-04-00353Buddy (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis, Aggressive

Need to find a home for Buddy. He is almost 12 years old, a terrier/chihuahua mix, neutered and UTD on shots, and house trained to doggie door. He has arthritis and has pain meds for this condition. We took him in for a friend in August after she moved to a home where she could not keep him, but he is not getting along with our other dog nor my husband. Although 3 times smaller than our husky, he wants to be the Alpha male, bullies our husky growls and charges my husband and is creating havoc in our home as our husky tries to avoid him. He would be best as an only dog with a female owner who can take him for walks and give him the attention ... (Read More)he needs. He does not appear to like men, following or taking commands and we have since learned that he did not respond to obedience training. If we cannot find someone with the time or resources to rehome him to, we will have to take him to the shelter. He can be quite sweet, but when bullying and unresponsive to simple commands, he growls and has run at my disabled husband. Water guns and assertive redirection get met with more of the unacceptable behavior. Had we known of his behavior problems before hand, we would not have taken him in. He deserves the right home, but we are not it. If you are interested in meeting him, please call or text. He will come with food dish, collar, 2 beds and a retractable lead. We live off 89A, by the VVMC (Less)

Health: Neutered

RATS ~3 YR OLD NEUTERED MALE RAT TERRIER ~15 LBS MAX BLACK AND WHITE WITH SOME BROWN SHORT SMOOTH COAT, ALERT EARS My grandfather has recently been told by his HOA community that his dogs are 'too noisy' and his only idea of recourse is to take the dog back to the city pound (yes, back, he adopted Rats there)I would prefer he didn't because I believe Rats is a very good dog, very smart and attentive but needs someone with more energy than my 87 year old grandfather. He currently lives with another female small dog and they enjoy each other quite a bit (she also needs to be rehomed - it would be really awesome if they went to the same home!) ... (Read More)but does not live with cats or children, so that temperament is mostly unknown. Really hoping he can find a permanent home with someone who understands small terriers! (Less)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

I have 2 rat terriers. Toby I got from a pet store so I assume he is a pure breed. Daisi I got from a breader. I think she is mixed with chihuahua. We have 2 small kids and Toby barks or cry when the kids cry. Since we had kids the time I spend has become less and less leafing to a lot of time in their kennel. I want to find the a good home where they will be loved and adored. They are both lap dogs and love to just relax on the couch.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in Arizona
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Arizona if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
