He is a sweetheart of a dog, and loves to cuddle. He sleeps underneath the covers at our feet at night. However, we have a fence-in back yard and he gets out. He would need a home with an invisible fence or many many acres of land to run. He darts out the doors any chance he gets and just runs and runs. He comes home when he's good and ready. We've been out chasing him for 2 hours or longer. He was hit by a Tahoe last week. He got lucky with the only injury was a knocked out front tooth and some scratches. Today he darted out again, and my family is afraid he will end up getting killed if he stays here. My children are heartbroken, but they ... (Read More)understand he will get killed if he stays here. He will be missed, but we would rather him be somewhere safe than dead. (Less)

Animal ID: 1830Lucas (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This playful, sweet young fellow is Lucas. Always smiling, Lucas is a happy-go-lucky 3-year-old who has a great zest for life and is ready to accompany you on any adventure. At 25 lbs., he is a great size--nice and sturdy, but still easily portable when you want to take him along on your travels or let him share some snuggle time with you on the couch. Lucas loves to ride in the car and will travel quietly in his crate. He also enjoys going for walks, but does tend to pull on the leash in his eagerness to explore the world. He sleeps through the night in his crate and is house trained. Lucas is easy going and gets along well with his foster ... (Read More)sister, a 16-lb. Rat Terrier, but because he has a strong prey drive, he might not do so well with really little dogs and he has not been introduced to cats. Lucas enjoys the outdoors, either lazing in the grass or just running around, and he will eagerly play fetch with you. If you're busy, he will entertain himself chewing on bones or playing with squeaky toys. He loves to have his belly rubbed. All in all, Lucas is a great family dog. Please check out more photos of him in his on-line album at http://imageevent.com/Newrattitude/lucas . ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Lucas, please go to New Rattitude's web site at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-20-00100Bo (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Bo is a sweet boy, but due to age, or vision or hearing loss he has become anxious and cries/barks most nights. We haven't slept through the night in months! We can't leave him outside because of the wildlife he barks all night and disturbs the neighbors. He has mild congestive heart failure and some joint issues. Not sure the extent of vision and hearing loss, but surely some due to age. He's never missed a vet visit or heartworm pill. His last checkup was in August. Someone who has land where he could bark and not disturb anyone, or someone who is willing to make him a house dog would be a good fit. He's an excellent guard dog!
