Animal ID: 1830Lucas (male)

Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Lucas was rescued from a shelter in Georgia, where he'd been turned in as a stray. And while his history is a mystery, there's nothing mysterious about his personality--he's one fun, energetic, and sweet 3-year-old Rat Terrier. At 22 lbs., he's a perfect size--not too small, not too big--with long legs and a gorgeous stance that might suggest he's got a touch of Pointer DNA. (Check out his online album at http://imageevent.com/newrattitude/lucas and you'll see what we mean!) Lucas is crate trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. He's a great traveler in the car and just chills out in his crate on trips. He's also house-trained but ... (Read More)can be tempted to mark indoors if he's around other dogs. He will need some reminding that this is a no-no. Overall, he's easy-going with dogs and content to let others be the boss. He has not been introduced to cats or young children. Lucas enjoys the outdoors, whether it's lazing in the grass or on the porch or just running around, so he will need a fenced yard and/or lots of daily walks. He would love to share his energy and zest for life with an equally active family. ========================================================================================If you are interested in adopting Lucas, please go to New Rattitude's web site at http://www.NewRattitude.org/adopt.htm where there is detailed information and a link to our adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-20-00100Bo (male)

Rat Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Bo is a sweet boy, but due to age, or vision or hearing loss he has become anxious and cries/barks most nights. We haven't slept through the night in months! We can't leave him outside because of the wildlife he barks all night and disturbs the neighbors. He has mild congestive heart failure and some joint issues. Not sure the extent of vision and hearing loss, but surely some due to age. He's never missed a vet visit or heartworm pill. His last checkup was in August. Someone who has land where he could bark and not disturb anyone, or someone who is willing to make him a house dog would be a good fit. He's an excellent guard dog!

PIease Read Before Adopting a Rat Terrier in Alabama
Rat Terrier Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. The Rat Terrier is a small breed of hunting dog also sometimes known as a Feist. Rat Terriers are vivacious, playful, and bold. This breed is great with children. Adult Rat Terriers adapt well to adoption. Rat Terriers are very smart and trainable. This breed can live in an apartment but needs plenty of vigorous exercise each day. Rat Terriers enjoy romping in a fenced yard, but because they are enthusiastic diggers, fences should be buried or reinforced around the base.
